John Pepper Lacrosse Tournament
Saturday August 2nd & 3rd
This will be our eighth year bringing a group of elite HS lacrosse players from Atlanta, GA to Syracuse, NY. The John Pepper Memorial is a one day tournament and is held at West Genesee High School. West Genesee is considered one of the top lacrosse programs in the county due to the schools legendary coach; Mike Messere. Coach Messere recently became the all-time winning HS Lacrosse coach in the country with 774 wins. Under Messere, West Genesee has won 15 State Championship and has an amazing 774 wins and only 62 losses.
The John Pepper Tournament is an "Invitation Only" and we remain one of the only teams that are not from the Central New York area. What makes this tournament special is that over 80 DI, DII & DIII College coaches flock to this tournament in hopes of recruiting their next big talent. Head coaches come in person instead of the norm which is to send an assistant coach to watch. Unlike many tournaments, there are only 4 fields which are centrally located allowing coaches to watch 2 games at a time. Just as important, there are only 16 teams that are selected to play each year. Some of the schools that were in attendance last year include Syracuse, Cornell, Army, Johns Hopkins, Virginia, Penn State, Rutgers, Hobart, Limestone, Lemoyne, Cortland and countless other schools.
The Upstate Classic is another one day tournament and is played the following day after the John Pepper. The tournament is organized by former Syracuse University standout, Jim Morrissey who is currently the head coach for Holy Cross. This is another great opportunity for players to play in front of even more coaches.
